The five casino bonus terms that decide a bonus’s real value

Wagering multiples, game weighting, max win, max bet and expiry. Everything else is decoration.

    Start with the wagering multiple

A 100% match up to £200 with 40x wagering requires £8,000 of turnover before withdrawal. The same bonus at 25x requires £5,000. That difference is the offer, not the headline number.

Anything above 40x should be treated as entertainment rather than value.

Then check weighting, max win, max bet and expiry

Game weighting determines how much of each £1 staked counts toward wagering. Table games often contribute 10% or nothing at all.

A max-win clause caps what you can keep from bonus funds. A max-bet rule (typically £5) voids the bonus if breached, and expiry windows of seven days make high multiples effectively unclearable.

    How we verify terms

Every bonus in our reviews is read in full from the operator’s own terms page on the day of publication, and re-checked quarterly. Where an operator’s marketing conflicts with its terms, we quote the terms.

    Frequently asked questions

Is a larger casino match bonus always better?

No. Wagering, game weighting, maximum bet, expiry and maximum-win rules determine whether a smaller headline offer has better practical value.

Can a casino void winnings for breaking a bonus rule?

A licensed operator may enforce clearly disclosed promotional rules. Read the current terms before playing, especially the maximum-bet and excluded-game clauses.

    Are US casino winnings taxable?

The IRS says gambling winnings are taxable even when no W-2G is issued. Keep complete records and seek qualified tax advice for your circumstances.
